Another player told me he thinks there's been much controversy around microtransactions:"A combination of RS gold especially competitive Treasure Hunter promos, too little content updates for many months, along with a strong feeling in the Runescape community that they are being taken advantage of. Outrage over microtransactions in Runescape isn't a new thing; there is just an overwhelming sense of'this business really does not care about us' when they maintain, keep shoving these promotions following many decades of being told to cease, or at least tone down, without any indications of interest from Jagex."
Before, Jagex has improved back. The RunePass, a Runescape mod said, was"a test to find out whether we can pull from other things like [Treasure Hunter]." They continued,"Our general objective is to deliver you frequent, high quality content upgrades, bring the game onto more platforms, and tune MTX to be more abrasive." The petition of Kotaku was not returned by jagex for comment.
One participant told Kotaku that he's what game companies would think about a"whale," a term for gamers that invest a great deal on microtransactions. "Once I got older and got a job, I started to get these microtransactions myself. And that is a conservative amount compared to most games I've played," he said. Eventually, the player said, he started to feel as though he"had cheated and had not really achieved anything" because of the"overpowered promotions."
Now, the player plays with the old-school variant of the game, which is milder on the microtransactions. "Because of these microtransactions, it made me understand how much I was spending something that I did not RuneScape Mobile gold even need or enjoy ultimately and made me really quit buying them in all games," he explained.
